The Lupa’s hidden, quiet spots

The Lupa is huge. So big that everyone finds exactly what they are looking for. Most people know the lively, buzzing places and the active waterside sports, and there is plenty of that here. Now, though, we are showing another side of the beach, the hidden, peaceful spots where quiet takes the lead.

Because relaxed downtime fits in nicely at the Lupa too. On weekdays, during the day and in the early evening, it is easy to find a calm corner. But it is not impossible at the weekend either, when everyone heads for the water at once. For those times we recommend the back areas of the peninsula, where vast open spaces are waiting. There is room here even when it is already crowded everywhere else. If you want to come here, we suggest Entrance II, from where the spit is just a few minutes’ walk.

And if you really want to get away from it all, here are a few of our favourites:

Sanie Lounge: A stylish waterside bar set in surroundings of turquoise and yellow. There is no loud party here, instead jazz, swing and funk play all day, sometimes as pleasant background music, sometimes as a subtle accompaniment. The selection includes refreshing cocktails, chilled beers, wines, iced and hot coffees, lemonades, fruity smoothies and light bites. Comfortable lounge furniture, time slowing down, and a place where only the moment truly matters. Details >>>

A beach of your own: Lupa Haven. Your own beach cabin, a premium grill, a separate bar and VIP parking, all just for you and your company. You can book it on Airbnb, and it is a perfect choice for an undisturbed barbecue or a completely relaxed day of sunbathing by the water. Details >>>

SUP. For lovers of quiet movement. There are no waves and no current at the Lupa, just step onto the board and explore the whole lake at your own pace. At the SUP base you can try out and rent Gladiator boards. We especially recommend it when the sun is already sinking, the rays of the setting sun reflecting beautifully on the mirror-smooth water. Lupa Glamping. And if you do not want to leave the calm behind for the night, stay over. Lupa Glamping offers comfortable, air-conditioned accommodation with balconies, right on the lakeshore yet only minutes from Budapest. Guests have access to a private beach, a sun terrace, an outdoor bath, a spa area and a fitness centre, while the family-friendly in-house restaurant also serves vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free dishes. The morning begins most beautifully here, when the lake is still quiet and all yours. It is no coincidence that it has become a family favourite, with a 9.3 rating on Booking.com. Details >>>

Lupa Hygge, Norwegian wood-fired saunas. Perhaps the deepest level of calm is waiting for you here. Lupa Hygge offers authentic, Scandinavian-style outdoor sauna houses made of natural wood, with wood-fired heating, right by the water. The panoramic view and the soft, intimate atmosphere are perfect for relaxing and recharging, and after a hot round you can cool off under the shower or straight in the water of Lake Lupa. You will find the saunas between the sports courts and the Divino, and you can park for free in the VIP car park. Details >>>

So the Lupa is not only about the buzz. If quiet is what you are after right now, these spots are waiting for you.
